This Election
“Many are the plans in the mind of a man, but it is the purpose of the Lord that will stand” (Prov 19:21). Whatever happens in the upcoming election, our trust in the Lord will be tested. We may think that “if the election doesn’t go *this* way, then all is lost.” That pretty much sums up every election. It also sums up a position that comes from a lack of faith. The truth of this proverb needs to be set in our minds. Whatever plans we make or whatever we think needs to happen, the purpose of the Lord will stand. Know this: “The eyes of the LORD are in every place, keeping watch on the evil and the good” (Prov 15:3). We do the best we can with what we have. We strive to be the best of citizens. We take part in good conscience. Yet we need to trust the Lord for the best outcome even when we don’t understand or cannot see it. If the results of an election cause us to lose our joy in the Lord, then our joy was not in the Lord to begin with. He knows and He cares. We can wait on the Lord with Habakkuk when he was told of God’s plans to bring judgment using a wicked nation: “Though the fig tree should not blossom, nor fruit be on the vines, the produce of the olive fail and the fields yield no food, the flock be cut off from the fold and there be no herd in the stalls, yet I will rejoice in the LORD; I will take joy in the God of my salvation. GOD, the Lord, is my strength; he makes my feet like the deer's; he makes me tread on my high places.” Even when Babylon takes us captive…

THE SICK.
We have a number on the sick list. I’ll just list the ones I know about. Kemuel and Donna Camp, Bob and Jean Evans, Jeff and Ashley Ladyman, Coulton Sparrow. Remember Nola Christenberry’s mother, who is under hospice care. Some others, though not sick, have been exposed to someone who tested positive for the virus. Everyone be safe and careful.
